Custom Crate Mats: Finally, a Dog Bed That Actually Fits Your Crate
Custom Crate Mats: Finally, a Dog Bed That Actually Fits Your Crate
Here's a frustration every crate-training household knows: you buy a "36 inch" crate mat for your "36 inch" crate, and it either bunches up against the walls or leaves a strip of bare wire floor down one side.
The problem isn't you. It's that crate sizing has never been standardised. One brand's 36-inch crate has a different internal floor to another's, door frames and wire bases steal centimetres, and mat manufacturers cut generously or stingily depending on the factory. "Close enough" is the industry standard.
Why Fit Matters Inside a Crate
A crate is a confined space, so a poorly fitting mat causes more problems there than anywhere else:
Too big and it bunches, folds and rides up the walls. Uncomfortable, and dogs who chew will find a raised corner irresistible.
Too small and it slides around, exposing hard floor exactly where your dog's joints land.
A wall-to-wall fit stays put, covers the whole floor, and turns the crate into the den it's supposed to be.
The Custom Solution
Because we manufacture our beds ourselves in Rutherford, NSW, and we're the only genuine dog bed manufacturer left in Australia, we can cut a bed to your crate's exact internal dimensions. Curious about the process? Take a look at how our beds are made.
For crates, the TuffMat! is a popular choice: it's waterproof and fully sealed, so accidents during crate training wipe clean. For indoor crates in the living room or bedroom, the PlushMat! with its removable, machine-washable cover, or the memory foam PlushMat! Plus, keep things comfortable and easy to clean. Our cleaning guide covers keeping any of them fresh.
How to Measure Your Crate
Open the crate and measure the internal floor: length and width in centimetres, wall to wall.
Ignore the advertised crate size completely. Measure what's actually there.
Note anything that intrudes into the floor space, like a raised lip or door frame.
Send those numbers, plus your preferred bed type, to bryan@roverpetproducts.com.au or via Facebook or Instagram, and we'll quote it. More measuring tips are in our sizing and recommendation guide.
Turnaround
Every custom bed is designed and made individually in our factory, so allow up to 4-6 weeks. It's a wait, but it's a bed made once, to fit one specific crate, rather than a compromise off a shelf.
Your crate isn't standard. Your dog's bed shouldn't be either. Get a custom crate mat quote here.
