Large Dog Beds

Every bed we make comes in Large and Extra Large, and we'll build a custom size for anything bigger. The question isn't whether one will fit your dog. It's whether it will still be holding them up in a few years' time.

Why a big dog needs more than a bigger bed

Weight doesn't spread evenly. It concentrates at the hips, elbows and shoulders, and the heavier the dog, the harder those points press down. Soft fill gives way under them - it compresses, bottoms out, and your dog ends up lying on the floor with a cover over it. That's where the stiff mornings and the pressure sores come from, and it's why so many big dogs abandon the bed you bought them.

In 2017 we had our bedding independently pressure mapped by one of the world's largest bedding companies, using real dogs. The TuffMat! and PlushMat! came in at an average of 24mmHg. The PlushMat! Plus at 20mmHg. The threshold used for human mattresses is 37mmHg - below that, pressure is being distributed rather than concentrated. The bigger your dog, the more that gap matters.

The foam doing that work is Puppy Sleep Cell, formulated with our foam manufacturer in Sydney to human and healthcare-grade standard. It isn't secondary-use offcuts, and it isn't dacron that needs re-stuffing twice a year.
