Tough Dog Beds

Our focus as an Australian manufacturer is the use of the best raw materials, the majority of which are Australian.

Most “waterproof” dog beds are water-resistant. A splash beads up; a puddle soaks through; anything that reaches the foam stays there. That's how a bed starts smelling six months in and never stops.

The TuffMat! has no zip and no removable cover. That sounds like a limitation until you realise a zip is a seam, and a seam is exactly where water gets in. Ours is a sealed unit in commercial-grade, rip-resistant fabric. Hose it, wipe it, leave it in the rain. The foam never meets the water.

If you'd rather be able to take a cover off and machine wash it, we make a zippered replacement cover in the same fabric. It's highly water-resistant rather than fully waterproof at the zip seam - so if your dog has accidents, pair it with a mattress protector.

Is there such a thing as an indestructible dog bed?

No. And anyone telling you otherwise is selling you a claim they can't honour.

What we build is a bed that outlasts the cheap ones by a long way: commercial-grade rip-resistant fabric, a sealed base, and human-grade orthopaedic foam that doesn't collapse under a big dog. In 2017 we had it independently pressure mapped - it averages 24mmHg against the 37mmHg threshold used for human mattresses.

What we don't claim is that it's chew-proof. The TuffMat! isn't designed for chewing behaviours, and we don't guarantee it against a determined destroyer. If that's your dog, here's what actually works: introduce the bed slowly, under supervision, as a reward - and give them something they are meant to destroy. Our chew toys come with a 30-day replacement guarantee. The bed doesn't.
